New Preventive Care Benefits Survey Reveals Increased Popularity with Employers
Results of a new survey were released last month on preventive care benefits. The study was conducted to determine the extent to which employers are adopting approaches that support the use of screenings, vaccinations, and education. The survey findings are timely as the White House recently announced the Affordable Care Act which goes into effect on September 23 that requires new insurance plans to provide preventive care without cost-sharing.

Majority of Small Business Owners Bracing for a Double-Dip Recession
The vast majority of small business owners are concerned that the economy may experience a double-dip recession. At the same time many respondents say they are very or somewhat prepared for another downturn, signaling that many entrepreneurs have adjusted their businesses and finances to get through any additional economic stumbles. New 1099 Reporting Requirements in PPACA Would Be a Heavy Burden for Small Businesses and IRS
The health care reform bill signed into law last March included a new tax reporting regulation likely to create a huge burden for businesses. The rule would require anyone with business income to issue 1099 tax forms to all vendors from whom they bought more than $600 worth of goods and services that year. But the new regulation, which would take effect in 2012, is unlikely to generate much in the way of additional tax revenues.
