For more than 40-years Charles D. Spencer & Associates published the Employee Benefit Plan Review (EBPR) magazine. With as many as 40,000 subscribers the EBPR pre-dates current trade publications, such as the Employee Benefit News.

In 2002 Spencer’s was acquired by Aspen Publishers, who opted to discontinue the magazine and terminate many Spencer employees. Shortly thereafter Christopher Frett, a former key executive with Spencer’s, founded Advent Information Services and retained the services of former Spencer editors to provide client newsletters for employee benefit agents and brokers to send to their clients.
